At first It appears only as shimmering air. Then as a thought and restlessness. And finally, there is a real elf growing to the size of a skyscraper. Little Mia discovers It at home and makes friends with him. It faithfully accompanies Mia on her way to earthly glory, until he is so enormous that Mia has to obey him completely. She becomes a slave to It and her own wishes, and a difficult journey back awaits her—back to herself and to her home.
