Their place is far from everyone’s reach. Or perhaps the distance is an illusion and they live right next to you, behind the skylight, behind your apartment’s wall? It’s an area to be found only by knowing the location’s exact coordinates. They live their entire lives in these distant lands, and hardly anybody knows about it. Every day, ambassadors of our society set out to meet them for a few hours in order to lend them their own hands and legs for a fee, leaving them afterwards behind, immersed in deep thinking. Because thinking is the only act of freedom. They don’t need anybody to do that.
They look like people, yet their character traits are sometimes different. They need two bodies to exist freely. They control light with their voice and open doors remotely. Is such a life even possible? Could one really experience things when all activities are done by others’ hands? And what if, for instance, the second body is not within reach?
The play explores relationships of people with handicap and their assistants because only thanks to their interconnectedness a person in wheelchair can live freely.
